The cave is made of calcareous rocks of the cave dwelling age. 70 millions of years ago, theses rocks were lying in a hot and shallow sea. The genesis of the cave is much more recent, although nobody knows the exact age, it comes probably from the last two millions of years of the geological history of our planet.

The cave is a place of geological interest, one of the most important of Ibiza island, with a depth of several hundreds of meters, and a surface of 8.500 square meters. The most important value of the cave lies in the numerous stalactites and stalagmites. Some of these shapes, today inactive on a natural way, has been rebuilt artificially, with its hydrological function, in order to show the visitor its origin and dynamic.

In some of the corners of the cave, we can find bone fossils of some of the old animal species, representing the ecosystem existing in the cave environment.
